I first saw this photo on the telegraph. It was a story on a meteorite crashing into the ocean just at the coast of Perth. However, the information was quite rare. “Meteorologists can’t pick up on these fast moving objects.” as well as “Perth Observatory and Astronomy WA” wasn’t up for a comment.
So what’s all the fuss about the “we’ve got a nice story and it’s like an UFO but with science”? Well badastronomy has the answer for us. It hasn’t been the first time that contrails have been mistaken for a meteor. Let’s be honest a meteor sells way better than some water condensing in the sky. So although we don’t have the coolest coverstory ever, maybe you enjoy the nice view.
Have a look at it over at badastronomy: http://bit.ly/MJTUik
