Venus transits the sun

Today is Sun-Earth day.
Venus transits the sun. And while our friends over at The Universe (https://www.facebook.com/AstrophysicsAndAstronomy) already reported about that, maybe some of you like it as well.

NASA is having a live webcast right now over at:
http://venustransit.nasa.gov/transitofvenus/
They’re talking about the relationship to planetary and earth science too. Worth a try!

Don’t miss out on this chance. The next transit will be 2117, so quite a while to go. If you want to know more about the transit: http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/OH/transit12.html

In the picture below you see the time, when you will actually be able to watch the transit at your place. But please be sure to never look directly into the sun!
If you want, you can build your own Camera Obscura: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camera_obscura

Don’t miss out on this once in a lifetime chance.
